Angry Words

by soberflight

Poison words so bitter, harsh,
Said with anger, full of hate.
I bid them be unspoken but
Discovered it was much too late.

How’d this anger come to be,
The acid to the surface near?
It wasn’t anger, not at all,
What it truly was, was fear.

I couldn’t let the world find out
That I was terrified inside,
So anger was the camouflage
Where my weakness went to hide.
